A Timeless, Authentic Approach to Newborn Photography in Fargo, North Dakota
Let’s talk newborn sessions.
Recently, I spent time looking back through nearly two decades of newborns I’ve photographed. As I combed through those images, I noticed some themes, some common threads that have always mattered most to me and that continue to shape how I photograph newborns today.
Those threads were clear right away: authenticity, simplicity, and emotional connection. I take pride in photographing these fleeting moments exactly as they are – the perfect and the imperfect.

Photographing Newborns Exactly As They Are
I want my newborn sessions to be authentic to you, and just as importantly, authentic to me. I’m drawn to newborn photography that reflects real life; the little wrinkles, tiny stretches, big yawns and sometimes even big, alert eyes. What that means is, I don’t want you to stress about your baby sleeping at the perfect time. Almost always, the baby sleeps at some point during the session, and when babies are awake, we can get some of the sweetest expressions and personality that it already starting to show!

Connection Matters
A cornerstone of my newborn sessions is connection. Your newborn session isn’t just about your baby. It’s about the way you hold her, the way he fits perfectly into your arms, the proud look on the older sibling’s face as they show me their new baby. Or maybe that older sibling isn’t so sure and needs a little time. That is okay, too. This is your story. I strive to capture the connection within your family, because honestly, that’s what will matter more with time. As a newborn photographer in Fargo, North Dakota, this connection-driven approach is at the heart of every session I photograph.

An Artistic, Story-Driven Approach to Newborn Photography in Fargo
My editing style is clean, consistent, and timeless. I love—love—black and white images, especially when photographing newborns. I create galleries that highlight not only beautiful newborn portraits, but also the tiny details you’ll want to remember. These are the kinds of images that feel just as powerful decades from now as they do today.

With a background in photojournalism and years of portrait experience, I approach newborn photography as both an art form and a way of telling your story. I don’t arrive with a checklist of poses to achieve. I watch and observe your baby’s cues, your energy as new parents, and let the session unfold naturally.
My goal isn’t just to deliver a full gallery. I want to create photographs that draw people in. Photographs that feel lived-in, the kind you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.

What to Expect During Your Newborn Session

Newborn sessions with me are designed to be calm, unhurried, and baby-led. There is always time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and snuggles. We move slowly and follow your baby’s cues.
–Minimal props and styling.
I keep things simple and timeless so the focus stays on your baby and your family. I bring simple wraps and backgrounds. If you have a meaningful blanket, outfit, or other item you’d like included, just let me know, I’d love to incorporate it!
–Gentle guidance.
I’ll guide you into natural positions and moments without forcing anything that doesn’t feel right.
–Connection-focused images.
Expect a mix of baby-only images and photographs that highlight the bond between you, your newborn, and—of course—siblings and beloved pets if you’d like.
Above all, your session is meant to feel grounding and supportive during a season that can feel both magical and overwhelming.
