As I mentioned in previous posts, my husband and I recently embarked on a 3,200 mile (round-trip) adventure with our 16-month-old daughter.  And when I say adventure, I’m not kidding!  We drove from Grand Forks to Northeast Oregon in two days.  The roads were icy and snowy all the way to Bismarck, then were clear until Billings, MT.  That’s when the fun began.  The Rockies were a mess!

Having lived in Grand Forks for some time now, I have to admit I was feeling a bit nervous as we approached those huge mountains.  Its been a while since we had experienced a change in elevation. 🙂  The piles of snow along side the interstate were well over 10-feet high as we reached one of the pass summits.  The road was icy in spots, and snow-packed in others and it was snowing like crazy.  One pass was so bad it was actually closed not long after we went through it!

Anyway, we made it safe and sound.  Luckily the roads were clear and dry for our return trip.  Thank goodness!

Our daughter was a trooper throughout the whole trip – although we joked that she had a 150-mile expiration date – she needed OUT of the car every 150 miles!  We rewarded her with the hotel swimming pool at the end of each long day and I’m pretty sure she thought that was great!

I took a few pictures with the ol’ point and shoot while on the road.  I’ll post a few fun ones.

Here are the Rockies as we approached Billings, MT.
